Laser Skin Tightening & Resurfacing
Wrinkles and acne scars are visible because they are lower than the surrounding skin. Light casts shadows into them, making them visible. Laser resurfacing makes the wrinkles and acne scars less visible because it causes collagen deposition which raises the wrinkle or acne scar level with the rest of the skin, much like filling in a sink hole.
Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Tightening is a remarkably effective treatment for patient with lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation of all severities. However, the Fractional CO2 Laser skin tightening should not be performed on dark brown or black skin typed because of the high risk of permanent skin color changes.

What is Laser skin tightening and Resurfacing?
Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing improves fine lines, scars, and wrinkles. The laser accomplishes this by shrinking old skin cells and stimulating new collagen production. This makes way for collagen restoration and deposition in the skin. As a result, fine lines and wrinkles will be removed. The laser will also tighten the skin, smooth the skin texture, enhance the complexion, and improve the skin color.
How Many Treatments Are Required with the Fractional Co2 Laser?
Wrinkles and acne scars will improve over time but will not completely vanish. Several treatments may be required to achieve the desired results. The deeper the wrinkles and acne scars, the more treatments one will need. Shallow wrinkles and scars may be vanished with one treatment.
Is it painful?
Because part of the skin is vaporized by the laser, it is like a series of small burns. The skin will be red and swollen afterword. However, most of the time the numbing cream used makes the procedure quite tolerable.
What is the Recovery Time?
Fractional Co2 laser resurfacing has a modest recovery phase which usually involves 1-2 weeks of redness and swelling. Most of the time the area can be covered by makeup after 5 days.
What Are the Side-Effects with Laser Resurfacing?
Redness may persist for weeks or months with the Fractional CO2 Laser. Blotchy discoloration may occur in 5-10% of patients following treatment. Facial spider veins may develop in 2-3% of those who are treated. Those who already have spider veins may see them worsen.
Will I be Satisfied with the Results?
People who have laser resurfacing are typically very satisfied with their results, if they understand the recovery period, improvement timeframe and the possibility that repeated treatments may be necessary to achieve their desired results. Those who have unrealistic expectations will be dissatisfied.
How long will results last?
Dynamic wrinkles, because they are caused by ongoing muscle activity, will recur the soonest. Within 1-5 years, the wrinkles may appear as they did prior to the laser surgery. The non-dynamic wrinkles tend to fade for 8- 10 years.
